A Place for Small Business
The Woodstock Farm Market Cooperative has been serving home and farm based businesses in the Carleton County region for more than forty years by providing a direct sales outlet for local products.
The Market has enabled many farmers and market gardeners to build up a local trade for their vegetables, fruits, eggs, plants, and meat products. Many producers have also come into the Market over this time with home baking, jams, jellies, and preserves. A wide variety of arts and crafts producers have conducted business in the Market, especially with knitting, sewing, woodworking, and jewellery.
The many customers who have made a habit of shopping at the Market are the other half of this story. Loyal customers are as essential to a successful Market as are the vendors. No clearer example can be given of how a good economy works for the mutual benefit of all its participants.
The Woodstock Farm and Craft Market is incorporated as a non-profit, producer’s Cooperative; it is run by a Board of Directors elected by the Co-op membership. Although many vendors have come and gone over the years, the sense of community that was present at its founding has continued to be the spirit of the Market.
